Location: The port of Damietta (Dumyat) is situated 8km W of the entrance to the Damietta branch of the River Nile, near Ras El-Bar and approx 70km W of Port Said, 250km E of Alexandria.
General overview: The port, which is entered directly from sea through two breakwaters, handles exports of agricultural products, fertilizers and furniture. Imports include cement, grain, general cargo and containers.
Traffic figures: Approx 3,130 vessels, 19,750,000t of cargo, including 1,264,000TEU handled annually.

* El Dekheila
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: El Dekheila is situated 3.7nm W of Alexandria.
General overview: El Dekheila is an extension to theport ofAlexandria. The harbour serves a steelworks situated nearby. In addition there are berths for bulk, petroleum, coal, general cargo, container and Ro-Ro traffic.
Traffic figures: Approx 1,170 vessels, 22,100,000t of cargo and 500,000TEU handled annually.
Load line zone: Summer.
Max size: LOA 303m, beam 42.6m, 168,000GT.
Minerals: Approx 180,000DWT, draught 17.3m. General cargo vessels (receiving) max 170,000t. Ore vessels (receiving) max 160,000t.
* Port Said
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: Port Said is situated at the northern entrance to the Suez Canal, a bypass channel having been constructed between Km 17 and the Mediterranean Sea so that canal traffic can avoid the port except vessels entering the Canal through the Eastern channel.
General overview: The port is an artificial harbour, formed by breakwaters, with multipurpose facilities handling, dry bulk, general cargo, containers, Ro-Ro and passengers. Large storage yards and warehousing available.
Port Said East: The Suez Canal Container Terminal has been constructed atPort SaidEastPort and has been operational since October 2004. The terminal handled 700,000TEU during its first operational year and is predicted to reach 1,700,000TEU.
El Arish, situated in the North Sinai, is managed byPort SaidPortbut can be found under separate entry.
Traffic figures: Approx 3,000 vessels visit the port, 10,700,000t of cargo, 1,000,000TEU and 271,450 passengers handled annually.

* Suez Canal
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: The Suez Canal provides access between the Mediterranean and Red Seas via 123km of canal, including the Timsah and Bitter Lakes.
General overview:
Total transit length is 193km and the transit time averages approx 12-16 hours, averaging 46 ships per day. The Canal runs between Port Said at the Mediterranean end and Port Tewfik at the Red Sea end. The Canal is at sea level throughout.
Navigation on the Canal is in accordance with the “Suez Canal Rules of Navigation” and the “Dangerous Cargo Appendix”. Conditions further require that the ship’s Tropical Load Line be apparent and in accordance with the International Load Line Convention and forward, aft and amidships draught marks be clearly marked on port and starboard sides.
Traffic figures:
Approx 17,300 vessels, 560,000,000t of cargo and 35,500,000TEU transit the Suez Canal annually.

Mediterranean Sea side: Summer.
Max size: Draught 20.1m, loaded vessels of 220,000DWT.
Vessels with beam of up to 77.5m can transit the Canal in ballast with a max draught 12.2m in good weather conditions and wind speed of not more than 10kts. Ballast vessels with a beam exceeding 74.6m require prior approval of the Suez Canal Authority to transit the Canal.
Note:
The Suez Canal Authority has decided to permit all vessels with a draught of 13.0m (42.6ft) to transit with the First Convoy South Bound through Port Said Western Waterway, whereas with the Second Convoy, according to the present regulations, the max permissible draught is 12.8m, under 45m beam and less than 90,000SCGT. Largest vessel handled: Laden 210,000DWT. Ballast 554,000 DWT.
* Suez
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: The port of Suez is situated at the southern end of the Suez Canal, approx 170km S of Port Said.
General overview: The bay is sheltered except from the S, providing a waiting anchorage area for vessels awaiting a pilot. The port consists of Port Ibrahim, providing berths for general cargo and passenger vessels;NewHarbour, where facilities for tankers and livestock vessels are situated and Port Tewfik, used to accommodate passenger vessels in transit.
Traffic figures: Approx 2,400,000TEU and 900 vessels handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: North Basin: LOA 137m, draught 7.9m.
Petroleum Basin: LOA 169m, draught 8.2m, 18,000DWT.
Port Tewfik Passenger vessels: No LOA or beam restrictions, draught 8.2m.
Offshore Terminal: LOA 250m, draught 10.3m, approx 65,000DWT (max load 45,000t).
* El Arish
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: El Arish port is situated in North Sinai, on the Mediterranean coast.
General overview: Formerly a small fishing port, El Arish was developed into a commercial port in 1996 and now handles general and bulk cargoes including white sands, coal and salt.
Max size: Draught 7.6m, 10,000DWT.
* Adabiya
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: The port of Adabiya is situated on the western shore of Suez Bay, approx 17km S of Port Suez.
General overview: The principal cargoes handled are grain and other foodstuffs, the port is also used by Naval vessels. Exports include urea, cement, rice and steel coils. Imports are sugar, wheat, palm oil, scrap and cattle.
Traffic figures: Approx 800,000t of cargo and 640 vessels handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Ain Sokhna
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: Sokhna port is located on the W side of the Gulf of Suez, approx 20nm SSW of Suez Canal.
General overview: The newly constructed port consists of basins with a total quay length of 14km. It has an area of 1,000ha, four port basins with 2 operational berths of quay length 750m each, 1 dedicated for container and agri-bulk and the other is for general cargo/bulk (cement, clinker, steel coils HRC, etc). The port also has a Ro-Ro terminal and all berths are equipped with fenders. The quays are designed to handle super post Panamax vessels (8,000TEU), Capesize bulk carriers and heavy lift project cargo, with water depths of 17.0m in the approach, at the port and in the turning basin, which is 450m in diameter.

* Safaga
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: Safaga is situated on the western shore of the Red Sea, midway between Hamrawein and Hurghada.
General overview: A main deep water port in the N part of theRed Sea, sheltered by an island and reefs and is an important phosphate export terminal. Vessels usually enter the port in the early morning, when the reefs are easily visible.
The principal export is phosphate ore, imports are wheat, alumina and cement.
Traffic figures: Approx 742 vessels, 3,870,000t of cargo, and 876,120 passengers handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: LOA 290m, draught 12.8m, 75,000DWT.
* Sharm El-Sheikh
PORT DESCRIPTION :.
Location: Sharm El-Sheikh is situated near the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula where the Straits of Tiran meet the Gulf of Aqaba.
General overview: The port is mainly used by tourists, with regular cruise vessels visiting it. The port’s maximum capacity is 100,000 passengers.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: Draught 5.8m.
Largest vessel handled: LOA 250m, draught 9.0m, 30,000DWT.
* Al-Tour
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: Al-Tour is situated in S Sinai.
General overview: Al-Tour, considered as one of the oldest ports inEgypt, was established on theRed Sea as a quarantine port for passengers and those returning from pilgrimage.
It is also used by large fishing vessels and for petroleum company equipment.

* Hurghada
PORT DESCRIPTION:.
Location: The port of Hurghada is situated on the Red Sea, approx 370km S of Suez.
General overview: The port services international tourism and yacht tourism in the Red Sea as well as serving cruise vessels and shipping lines transporting tourists and passengers from Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries to Sharm El Sheikh Port.
Traffic figures: Approx 600 vessels, 13,000 cars and 260,000 passengers handled annually.
Load line zone: Tropical.
Max size: Draught 5.5m.
